Learning process painful By Milton Richman UPI
Jeff Torborg faced a tough season with the Cleveland Indians as owner Gabe Paul weighed his options. Paul defended Torborg despite the club's struggles, noting the manager cannot hit for hitters. Paul favors depth over a flashy hire, keeping Torborg for now while Torborg gains experience and potential, with named candidates like Sparky Anderson and Billy Martin discussed but not pursued.
