New London ditch cleaning plan may cost half a million

New London village officials were told that a drainage improvement program to prevent flooding could exceed 50000 dollars. The U S Department of Agriculture estimate placed the cost at 500000 with 2600 acres from the north line to Skellenger Creek and six four acres near the Penn Central railroads. Engineers studies could cost about 58000 financed by a state revolving fund with later assessments on benefiting property owners to repay the loan. Public input is sought on whether to proceed with the study and possible ditch maintenance assessments in future years.
