Norwalk Eyes Water Rate Overhaul for Huron River Plan
Norwalk plans to borrow 412 million to 5 million dollars for drawing water from the Huron River and expanding treatment. A year of a fair rate structure is needed before bonds can be issued with a fixed 50 cent per thousand gallon option proposed by City Engineer Widman. The Stokely Van Camp canning plant uses up to 750,000 gallons monthly in season, prompting calls for conservation and possible surcharges.
