Underground dream house built in Greenwich tornado incident
Greenwich resident Jim Kurtz and his wife Kathy transformed a damaged mobile home lot into a 2200 square foot underground residence after a June tornado destroyed their prior home. The four foot underground structure uses cement walls, skylights, an underground pool, and electric heating mainly from a wood stove and fireplace. The couple notes the ground provides natural insulation and hopes to finish details like the skylights and garden with time off.
