Funeral director gift funds North Fairfield rescue unit
James and wife Smith, funeral directors from Norwalk and North Fairfield, donated an equipped rescue vehicle to North Fairfield village and township. Fire Chief Gilbert Burras and Council President Earl LaRonde accepted in a ceremony at the firehouse, with funds for maintenance and a mission to fill gaps in emergency responses. The gift honors the late Charles D. Harvey, former North Fairfield funeral director and postmaster, who encouraged the Smiths to open their local funeral home.
