Cancer attitudes survey shows denial of cancer risks widespread
A nationwide survey of 1,500 adults for Shell Oil Co. finds 30 percent believe almost everything causes cancer, 55 percent disagree with that view, and 13 percent are unsure. Blacks, lower incomes, and less education align with higher belief that everything causes cancer. Smokers show similar doubt, hindering anti smoking campaigns.
