An 18-year-old Norwalk woman pursued a hit-and-run driver Saturday night after his car struck hers at Monroe and North Foster Streets. The pursuit ended when she blocked his vehicle at a gas station. the driver Elmer Burkett was cited for leaving the scene.
County extension agent John Wells announces a series of meetings. On December 13 at 9:30 a.m. at the County Administration Building a panel from Columbia Gas Standard Oil and Ohio Edison will discuss home heating and maintenance. Wittenberg University chemist Dr. Nelson Sartoris will address energy futures and new heating systems. A second session covers Estate Planning Problems of Farm Owners with speakers Dean Lucas Dick Duvick Warren Ruggles and Roy Bellamy. A third meeting on December 19 at 1 p.m. features Dick Duvick reviewing 1977 income tax changes for farm operators.
Walter Horn Jr of Bellevue is named chairman of the State 4 H Advisory Committee after 37 years as a 4 H Advisor. The 35 member panel includes 4 H advisors and community members and meets twice yearly to review programs and set recommendations for the state staff. Next meeting is in March.
Erie County auditors report that Ohio Telephone and Telegraph abandoned $12 million in underground cable to use microwave transmitters. Berlin Milan loses about $193,000 next year, Margaretta about $140,000, Perkins around $60,000, with total tax revenue drop threatening funded levies and district budgets.
