Jim Coggin, 64, of Fairfield, wins 25 000 in the Ohio Lottery weekly drawing and says he will use the money to travel and escape the snow. He notes he has been unlucky before and hopes this marks a change.
A travelers advisory warns of very windy and colder conditions tonight with occasional snow and blowing drift. One to two inches of new snow expected. lows near 20 below. Saturday will be sunny and very cold with highs around 10. Precipitation chances 60 percent tonight, 20 percent Saturday. A 16 year old defector from Laos, Comrade Khambai, describes life in the Pathet Lao army. He says pay was 45 cents a month, two bowls of rice daily, and punishments including death for chasing girls or disobedience. He witnessed executions for AWOL and fled across the Mekong to Thailand.
