Feed mill boosts efficiency for Peru turkey operation
At the Albright farm in Peru 25 000 turkeys are fed by a farm mill. Richard Albright says corn and protein vitamins are automatically blended and loaded to wagons and field bins. The system cuts field feeding time to about one hour weekly per flock across five flocks. The mill processes about 45 tons of feed weekly and was installed last fall.

Drouth May Raise Nitrate Levels in Corn Stalks
Ohio Director of Agriculture John Stackhouse warned that in drought areas corn stalks and other plants may have high nitrate levels. He noted animal feed can tolerate up to 5 percent total intake, but more than 1.5 percent nitrate may cause mortality. Diluting nitrate with other feeds can make rations safe.
