Wrecks Leave 13 Injured Across Friday Weekend

Accidents Friday and today closed a week that began with two highway fatalities in Huron County. Seven crashes occurred in Norwalk on state routes and local roads, injuring fourteen people. Linda Sue Black nine months underwent emergency surgery after a crash at Townsend and Old State, with her condition later listed as fair. Patricia Ward of Perrin driven car collided with the Black vehicle, Ward not seriously hurt. investigators say Ward had right of way. Three youths from New London were hurt in a three car crash on Route 162 east of Route 250. Gwendolyn Hall 13 sustained a collarbone fracture and is in fairly good condition.

Rioting Spreads Through North Philadelphia Slashing Stores

More than 1 000 Black residents clash with police in North Philadelphia in a night of rioting looting. Police deploy over 500 officers as vandals crash windows steal drugs liquor furniture and clothing. Damage run into several hundred thousand dollars.

Khrushchev Denounces Western Liberators at Rally

Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev labeled western leaders “stupid persons” in Banska Bystrica during a rally for the 20th anniversary of the Slovak uprising. He praised Eastern European peoples who chose socialism and claimed capitalists will not rule their countries again. Gunfire was heard but police reported no gun use in fights.

Weather outlook calls for widely scattered thundershowers tonight and Sunday with temperatures ranging from 59 to 65 degrees tonight and 82 to 88 degrees Sunday. Birth announcements list a girl for Mr and Mrs Douglas Jones of Monrov ille, a boy for Mr and Mrs John Lane of 15 N West, a girl for Mr and Mrs Donald Moyer of RD 1, and a boy for Mr and Mrs Lon Beverly of Plymouth. Death notices include Anthony A Feurstein aged 82 of Huron Carey V Garwood aged 77 of rural Collins and Fred J Claus aged 81 of RD 3 Willard.
