Wheat varieties in Ohio show six year yield stability
Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station reports six year yield comparisons for winter wheat across thirteen Ohio locations. Six leading varieties Lucas Fulton Reed Red Coat Knox 62 LaPorte differ by less than one bushel, while Seneca Monon Vermilion trail by about two bushels. Farmers should select multiple varieties to fit soils and avoid lodging late maturity and loose smut. Ful ton is the only new variety, TN-1324, and may aid decisions.
