Lieutenant Shurtz Reassigned After Alpha Company Refusal
Lieutenant Eugene Shurtz Jr and five Alpha Company soldiers refused to move into combat in the Que Son Valley. Shurtz was relieved of command and reassigned within the 196th Brigade. Army officials said no disciplinary action or scapegoating. he simply needs more savvy and experience.
