Voting Gaps Found In Civic Groups In Ohio Survey
A survey by the Ohio Information Committee examined eight service organizations in a major Ohio city to measure turnout. Unregistered members were identified, then campaigns within groups aimed to boost participation. After the 1966 election, the nonvoter percentages were Civitan 4, Kiwanis 7, Rotary 13, Lions 23, Chamber of Commerce 21, and three Jaycee groups 9 24 and 12 percent. To vote in November, unregistered residents must act by October 10.

Right To Die Ethics Reflected In Senate Hearing
William F. Buckley Jr outlines the debate over physician assisted death and state mercy killing. Dr. Sackett pushes for patients to direct discontinuation of treatment in terminal cases, while Dr. Foye argues decisions cannot define life’s value. Catholic ethics, Pope Pius XI, and double effect principles frame the issue as an ethical question rather than a legal verdict.

Nixon Doctrine easing aid to Taiwan allies reshapes far east policy
At Miami Beach Prof. David Rowe argues for a tempered Nixon foreign policy stance that maintains ties with Taiwan and other East Asian allies while shifting military deployment. He notes three commitments to Taiwan remain and urges continued U.S. support and resources for defense without full troop commitments. The platform committee weighs a united Republican position.
