Living Costs Rise Four-Tenths in July Report
Washington AP reports the Labor Department says the cost of living increased four-tenths of a percent in July, pushing consumer prices 3 percent higher than a year earlier. Despite inflation, workers’ earnings keep buying power up 3.5 percent versus last year and price trends under Nixon’s wage and price controls show a 2.9 percent yearly rate since August 15 1971.
