87 year old teaches adult English learners in San Diego
Joyce Hartman, an 87 year old widow and former SDSU graduate, volunteers weekly at the Rancho Bernardo Literacy Center teaching English as a second language to adult immigrants from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and more. She began in 1953 in Japan and now mentors with student Heejung Kim as they work on math, grammar, and reading using Laubach methods at no cost.
