Perry students rally for food donations to Perry Helping Perry
Perry Local Schools and St. Joan of Arc seventh graders in the P.R.I.D.E. program collected 6 000 food items for the Perry Helping Perry pantry at Trinity United Methodist Church. Director Brett Huntsman noted the need as shelves ran nearly empty amid 72 percent of residents at or below the poverty line. The pantry, now partnering with the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank, serves a hot breakfast 8 to 10 and distributes food 9 to 12 on the third Saturday each month, with over 120 visitors last month.
