Shreffler to Leave Northwest Local Next Month
Northwest Local Superintendent Mike Shreffler will resign effective July 31 after seven years with the district and more than two decades in education. The board accepted the resignation after an executive session as it begins search for a replacement. Shreffler plans to work as a curriculum consultant for districts including Sandy Valley Tuslaw and Carrollton. He previously served as curriculum director at Perry Local Schools and holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction.

Massillon Rescues Stray Dog From Storm Drain
Massillon resident Tami Mackey spotted a dog trapped in a storm sewer near Sippo Boulevard NE as heavy rain swelled drains. Fire and Parks crews heard the cries, Chief Tom Burgasser said the brindled dog was thin and trapped for days before attempts to pull it out.
