Oberlin fights guard shortage with safety push at school
Oberlin City School District Superintendent David Hall announced steps to address a crossing guard shortage near Langston Middle School. With North Park and East Lorain streets under construction since Aug 19, traffic and walkers face risk as completion is slated for late October 2024. Hall joined police, fire, city engineers, and public works officials to devise traffic flow and guard plans. Mark Reynolds has served as interim guard, but no long term solution was in place as of Monday afternoon. Hall stresses the need to protect students and families during busy dismissal times and construction.
