City park plan in jeopardy over higher land price
Lompoc officials may drop a North O Street park project after Mallas Associates cited a new minimum price of 3200 per acre for land north of La Canada Elementary School. Council referred the issue to the Parks and Recreation Commission for study and may not pursue the plan with the increased cost. If federal aid changes, an extra 15000 could be added to the total cost, partially paid by the city. City Administrator Gene Wahlers noted the higher price weakens the deal.
