California Democratic plan redraws districts widely for 43 seats
Assembly Democrats unveil a reapportionment map adding five new districts as California grows. The plan places Rep. Paul McCloskey in a liberal San Mateo Santa Cruz district or a San Mateo based seat, with Leo Ryan likely to contest. Other new districts target central Los Angeles, San Diego Orange County, and San Bernardino Riverside areas, shifting party margins and keeping many incumbents in place.
