Rings Presented at Ci-Wa-Ne Ceremonial

Ci-Wa-Ne Campfire Girls held a May 18 7:30 pm ceremonial at the Alpha Clubhouse for Woodgatherer rings. Jane Hodges presented gifts to departing members Mrs Clara Keith and daughter Louise, and hostesses served strawberry short cake and coffee to guests.

Tanda Group Receives Letter From Ceylon

Ruth Glidden reports the Tanda Horizon Club met May 15 for a swimming party and wiener roast at Kathie Lower s home. A letter from Ceylon expresses appreciation for seeds sent for the 1956 Birthday Honor Seeds for Democracy and learning about other countries. Lompoc Fiesta Costume Winners Named in Parade

Ribbon winners in the Day at the Mission Fiesta Children’s Parade were announced Sunday May 20. In Spanish costume girls Christine Cesena won first with Karen Tateyama second and Marta Holsman third. Boys first went to Robert B Lilley with Murray Lawrence second and Stephen Lewis third. Mexican costume girls crowned Mary Esther Villalobos first, Jina Rodriguez second, Magdalena Aranda third. boys Frankie Villalobos first and Mike Reiley second. Indian costume girls Lin da Twyford first and Jerilyn Hansen second. boys Jimmy Twyford first and Brett Lamont second.

Little Chefs Host Tea and Iris Tour for Mothers

The Little Chefs hosted an afternoon tea at Mrs. Jim Beattie’s Douglas Avenue home on a Thursday in May. Mentions include iris and rose decorations, cookies and a frozen dessert, cooking and serving by the girls, and a tour of the iris garden. Theater Celebrates 29th Year in Present Location

The Lompoc Theater marks its 29th anniversary in the current location this Sunday. Opened in 1927 by Walter Calvert and William J. Baker, who started Lompoc’s motion picture business 15 years earlier at the Opera House. Earl Calvert now owns and manages the theater after purchasing the building from the Knights of Pythias.

Nipinu Group Elects Officers At May Meeting

Martha Small led Nipinu Camp Fire Group’s May 16 meeting at the Community Center to elect officers. Martha Small named president with Laurie Grossman as vice president, Maryellen Canfield treasurer, and Betty Jo Lower secretary. The group planned the upcoming Council Fire on May 35.
