Michelle Ray Weds William Logan Shipman in Lakewood Home

Michelle Ray marries William Logan Shipman on March 6 at the Lakewood home of the bride’s parents. The bride, a Lakewood High School graduate, wore an Emma Dome gown with lace bodice and seed pearl headpiece. the groom is a Navy enlistee bound for Vietnam.

Music program entertains Grange at Lompoc Hall

About 100 members and guests attended a barbecued chicken dinner at Lompoc Grange Hall. Organizers included Homer Larsen Barry Mantrina Lola Elvig and Josie Mantrina. Mary Fairbanks lecturer introduced six Lompoc Accordion Center pupils Donald Fletcher Steve Musick Steve Bruzdanski Marvin Jensen and Mark Rose. They played Second Hungarian Rhapsody Little Brown Jug Swedish Polka Hawaiian War Dance Hey Jude and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. A Barbershop Quartet performed then members visited Santa Ynez Valley Grange for a leadership conference led by Ruby Duncan. Walter Long spoke with Lompoc Grange Master George Burroughs on the America Past Present and Future theme. A workday is set for Friday March 26.

Lumen Vitae League hosts guest speaker Wednesday

Wilfred A. Rothschild chair of the tri county Children’s Home Society will speak at the Lumen Vitae League gathering hosted by Mrs Hunter Alverson at 318 St. Andrews Way. Rothschild, born in New York City and Cornell alumnus, has long mixed civic work with CHS and regional youth services.

Lompoc PTA Council honors local educator at luncheon

The Lompoc PTA Council bestowed an honorary service award on F Michael Herrera during the March meeting at Valley Bowl. Herrera, director of the Title I program, spoke on an "Investment for tomorrow" and outlined six remedial teaching services funded by $126,304 from federal sources. He and his wife Peggy, with two children, live at 203 S Seventh St, and his career and educational background are noted. Officers for April 21 in La Mesa School were announced by Mrs. E. James Sazani and committee.
