Protesting Jews Arrested Near Soviet Embassy in Washington

About 700 Jewish demonstrators and 2,500 participants gathered in a mass sit-in near the Soviet Embassy led by Rabbi Meir Kahane of the JDL. The protest included a rally on the Ellipse and a march past the White House with chants of Never Again. Soldier clings to life after fatal Lompoc crash

A Fort Ord soldier Anthony J. Vidal 21 remained seriously ill at Goleta Valley Community Hospital with a head injury after a Lompoc crash that killed Air Force Sgt Leonard J. Bucao 19 of Vandenberg AFB. Army Pvt Puletasi Magee of Fort Ord was treated at the Base Hospital with a concussion and jaw fracture.

Secretary Rogers May Visit Israel for Middle East Assessment

Graham named undersheriff for Los Angeles County

John Graham 41 an inspector with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was named the new undersheriff by the board of supervisors on Sheriff John W. Carpenter's recommendation. The appointment begins April 12 with a salary of 1785 dollars per month matching the retired undersheriff’s pay.

North Vietnamese threat to Luang Prabang escalates
