Accident victim in Lompoc remains in critical condition

The traffic crash near North H Street and North Avenue left John Bucao dead and two others injured. The hospitalized victim, initially named as Joseph Vidal and later as Anthony J. Vidal, was described as irrational and in critical condition as Goleta Valley Community Hospital updated his status.

County supervisors approve 3400 dollar park project

Supervisor Catterlin opposed the award citing a county freeze on the project. The board voted 4-1 to approve after officials said miscommunication allowed the work to proceed and the requisition was filed the same day the freeze was issued.

The Lompoc Public Library loss of two NASA films valued at 500 is being investigated with films found in the La Purisima Room. Court records show Anthony Lee Barto and Bruce Allan McKnight each received nine months in County Jail for narcotics and forgery after a March 16 arrest. An accident on Miguelito Canyon Road left Elena John Lopez injured and hospitalized with possible collarbone damage after swerving to avoid a car.

Man charged with battery and assault in party dispute

Jettie Clare Isom 20 was arrested on a warrant charging assault with a deadly weapon and battery after a party dispute at 226 A N. E St. Police seized a rifle a shotgun a meat cleaver and two carving knives. Isom released. victim Herbert Harvey 23 faces a preliminary hearing April 21 in Lompoc. Bail set at Isom 1625 Harvey 3100. A teenage girl was struck during the incident and Harvey later held on attempted murder charges.

Planners approve zone change for optometrist in Lompoc

Lompoc Planning Commission approved a zone change to commercial office for Joe M. Johnson to build an optometry office at North G Street and College Avenue. Staff will study extending commercial office zoning along College Avenue between H Street and A Streets.
