New Orleans DA Jim Garrison Arrested on Bribery Charges
In Washington the controversial New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison was arrested on federal charges of bribery illegal gambling and obstruction of law enforcement. Two New Orleans police officers a captain and a sergeant along with three businessmen face the same charges. The indictments were announced by Attorney General John N Mitchell. A 113 page affidavit alleges payments up to 1500 dollars monthly to Garrison and officers to shield illegal pinball machine gambling. Tape recordings of some transactions were cited. Garrison has been detained.
