Fee hike for county water consultant work in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara County Water Agency approved a 40 percent increase for Bookman and Edmonston from 12000 to 16800 dollars annually. The board also authorized up to 25000 dollars in fees and expenses next year to prepare a county wide water project report tied to the state water program. Edmonston warned work is needed or another firm will do it, and potential future reports were discussed as county water problems grow. The agency may consult with Kern County on negotiations with nearby districts to assign rights in the state water project ahead of a possible second phase decision next year.

Tunnell backs night budget hearing in Santa Barbara County

Fourth District Supervisor Curtis Tunnell of Santa Maria supports a night public hearing on the 1969 70 county budget. Backed by County Taxpayers Assn and others, the plan aims to boost turnout as taxpayers worry about another tax rise. Budget hearings begin Monday July 7 in Santa Barbara during daytime sessions limits attendance.
