Reserve Unit May Bring Armory Here

A proposed Army Reserve unit in Lompoc could lead to an armory in the city depending on funds and priority. Sixth Army notes armory construction is limited to communities with existing Reserve units, while Brig General Burbach says a successful unit could create an armory possibility. Camp Cooke will support training for a Santa Barbara San Luis Obispo infantry battalion. Santa Maria has $75,000 armory approved and larger plans for Santa Barbara are under consideration. Paso Robles is campaigning.

Texaco To Celebrate Opening In Lompoc

A two day Grand Opening is planned for the Chambers and Newman Texaco Services Station at Ocean avenue and G street in Lompoc. Operators Omer Chambers and Paul Newman invite the public with gifts and a free drawing on Saturday evening. Dee Galbraith was the general contractor.

Burglarized Cafe In Los Alamos Reports Thefts

Far'ow's Cafe in Los Alamos was burglarized yesterday morning and $80 in silver dollars was taken. The sheriff's department noted the armory located there and described armories as sought after for civic and military use.

G J Jim Gleason who has led this district of the Coast Valleys division for over a year is named manager of the Madera District in the San Joaquin division of Pacific Gas and Electric Co. Lloyd C Stone is promoted to succeed Gleason as general foreman of the San Luis Obispo District. Stone, born in 1903 in Pennsylvania, began as a delper with Midland Counties Public Service Corporation in 1922 and rose to chief posts before his promotion. He will reside in Santa Maria with his wife Mrs Margaret Hoare.
