Burback Opens Way For Reserves In Lompoc

General Burback announced in Lompoc that a Reserve unit may be established locally amid talks with the Chamber of Commerce and a plan to use Camp Cooke for training. The Lompoc Flower Festival may run June 21 to 24 after a Chamber of Commerce directors meeting approved the weekend. Festival chair Curt Levens reported the date fits Flower Show committee and participants with no local conflicts. The festival’s length and planning committees are to be decided by Levens.

Mobile blood unit to visit Lompoc Monday evening

The Tri Counties Mobile Blood Bank will be in Lompoc Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p m. The vehicle will set up at the Veterans Memorial building to collect blood donations.

Funeral for Clyde Crowell in Lompoc

Funeral services are held today for Clyde Crowell longtime Lompoc resident who died Tuesday in a Santa Barbara hospital. The Rev Paul Hall leads at Starbuck chapel at 3 00 with graveside rites by the Eagles at Evergreen cemetery. He was born October 29 1871 in Indiana and worked as a branch inspector in Santa Barbara county. Survived by sisters Myrtle Crowell Los Angeles and Gladyce Cathcart Oceanside.

Charles Lockwood, superintendent of schools, will address the Lompoc Farm Center meeting Monday. The session titled School Needs for Lompoc will begin at 8 o clock in the high school agricultural building.

Lompoc Raises Flood Relief Funds to 374 Dollars

Lompoc residents contributed 374 dollars for northern California flood relief. A check for the amount was sent by Miss Ilenettuyck, Red Cross chapter treasurer, to the Pacific Area office. Contributions include 110 from USDB and the rest from Lompoc city. Yuba City needs several million dollars for rebuilding and care.

State City Reach Drain Pact For West Ocean Ave

After a year of talks the State Division of Highways and the city sign an agreement for West Ocean Ave storm drainage. The street will be widened by 10 feet each side with tree removal curb shifts gutters and paving. City share about 6100 and state about 8000.
