Six From University to Speak Kent State

Kent State university President George A. Bowman and five other faculty members will speak at and attend meetings this week and next. Bowman will address Sharon high school teachers in Sharon on Oct. 13. Edna E. Eisen will speak in Pittsburgh Oct. 11 to the Tri-State Business Education Association on Fun With Statistics. Raymond M. Clark will discuss Making Wise Choices before the Wesley Foundation on Oct. 12 at the Kent Methodist church. Arville O. DeWeese is in Atlantic City for the American School Health Association meeting through Oct. 9. Dwight L. Arnold will represent the university at the Educational Council of Ohio Education Association meeting in Cleveland on Oct. 10.

Women’s journalism honorary Lambda Phi will nominate pledges tonight at 5 p.m. in 107M. Eleanor Meck, president, announced future activities to be planned.

Akron Club Hears Kappa Sig Chorus

The choral group of Kappa Sigma Chi fraternity serenaded the Akron Newcomers' club under Bill Williams. The program included a pantomime by Tom Welsh and humorous songs by Gene Erwin, Gene Ranize, and Donald Cox. Ralph Maglione MC introduced solos. The university trophy for competitive singing went to Campus Night for Meadowlands.

Flying Club Holds Meeting Tonight

KSU Flying club announces its first fall quarter meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 109M. A new constitution will be presented for approval and the membership drive will close. Open to any university student.

Wesley Hayride Tickets On Sale For Friday Event

Tickets for the Wesley foundation hayride are on sale in the corridor between Merrill hall and the atrium. Each ducat admits one person for 50 cents. Students meet at the Methodist church at 7 30 p m Friday and ride to Sandy Lake for a wiener roast.

Forensics Association Opens First Meeting Today

Forensics to meet university students with interest in debate and other forensic activities are invited to attend the first meeting of the Student Forensic Association today at 4 p.m. in 315K. James N. Holm, director of forensics, announced the event.

Phi Gams Elect 1947 48 Officers

Phi Gamma Theta elects Bill Chastain as president with George Hoy stepping down. Art Seyler Frank Mesek and Jack Urchek become vice president secretary and treasurer. Fall quarter officers include Tom Wilhelm John Morris social co chairs Bob Chambers chaplain Phil Dempsy Jim Kline and Gene Dombroski in various posts.

Green and De Mooy Betrothed in Twin Lakes Alliance

Mr and Mrs L C Green announce the engagement of their daughter Margery Green to Leslie De Mooy son of Mr and Mrs F C De Mooy of Cleveland Heights. Margery is a sophomore at the university in liberal arts and Leslie attends a Cleveland radio school with a journalism major. No wedding date is set.

Students Entertain Miss Haley at Home Management House

Miss Alice Haley head of home economics and Mrs Ruben Haley were hosted at a dinner by the home management house at 557 East Summit Street. University women living there include Norma Jenkins Gwyn Szilagyi Ethel Johnson Katherine Williams and Esther Gray directs the house. Summer activities included canning foods for winter use.
