He studied at National Central University in Juan King in 1940 and worked briefly in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs before coming to Kent State under a government scholarship. Ching lives on a $150 monthly allowance and notes Chinese students’ seriousness, American campus support, and beauty differences among universities. He likes American friendliness and plans to attend a football game, comparing football to his Burma era combat. He intends to return to Chunking after earning his master’s degree next spring.
