Budgies as Color Research Subjects in Biology Lab
Four color-matched pairs of budgerigars in the biology department breeding project study feather-color inheritance. Scientists Dr. Charles B. Sumner and graduate student Hubert Mabe oversee daily life in four apartment cages, with couples Ozzie Harriet, Jimmy Jenny, Rita Aly, and Carol Freddy. The birds exhibit nesting, feeding, and social behaviors as researchers observe color and parental roles.
