KSU Students Trapped in Holland Tunnel Disaster

Eighty nine students and six chaperones from Kansas State University were trapped in the Holland tunnel during a Friday morning incident. Carried by gas fumes and smoke, they escaped with help from others as police ordered evacuations. No fatalities occurred. about 60 injured and 30 remaining in hospital at the time. The group later attended the Arthur Godfrey show, arriving late but welcomed by Godfrey.

Advisers Urge Pre-Registration Appointments for Summer Quarter

Students intending to pre register for the summer quarter should meet with their advisers this week to plan registration. Some receive appointment notices, and group appointments will be posted. Unless advised otherwise, they see the same faculty member as last quarter. If unsure of adviser identity, consult the office of student advising. Time schedules will be available in that office.

Get in Swim Must Pass Test to Race

Swimming trials for the Regatta races will be held today and tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the university pool. Entrants must pass the test to compete and organizations may enter no more than two participants.

ROTC Cadets to be Inspected by Four Army Officers

Four senior officers will inspect the university ROTC cadets today. Col Ira W Black Lt Col J W Brady Maj John R Sheridan and Capt James H Leach will lead the review at 2 p.m. after a preliminary inspection in ranks at 1 p.m. Lt Col Thomas F Wall invites the public to watch the activities on the football field.

The Manchester cup for the Terrace lodge barracks went to Lodge B as winter quarter winner last Friday. Lodge E previously held the cup.

Brady Lake Regatta Sets May 26 Deadline for Entries

The ninth annual Rowboat Regatta at Brady Lake Park sets May 26 as the deadline for entry fees and swimmer tests, with identical boats supplied by Kent States. Races occur June 4 at 2 p.m. in eight rules heavy plan including divisions for independent and Greek groups and a 10-organization cap per division.
