J. C. Gauvey, a trucker, has relocated three trucks to Jal and plans to keep an office there if business allows. The move signals expansion and potential local infrastructure benefits for the Jal area.
J. E. Darling will move his shop from the main street building to the old Ford garage to operate a warehouse. He invites friends and customers to the new location. J. W. Donahoo moves into Darling's former shop and will set up a shooting gallery there.
Mrs. H. L. Pyeatt and Mrs. T. L. Pridgeon shopped in Kermit on Tuesday. Bruce Pyeatt returned from California this week to visit with his brother for a while.
The Junior Senior and band minstrel titled Axin' Her Father drew strong attendance Monday night. After expenses the tri sponsors earned 50 dollars, to be shared equally. Proceeds fund annual activities. Junior class plans a senior banquet. band funds await allocation.
The Rex Theatre screens Dracula and Frankenstein in a two night horror program starring Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff with a late prelude Saturday and a regular run starting Tuesday. Critics promise mystery and chilling drama for strong hearts.
Mrs Beal of El Paso visits daughter in the camp this week. Mrs Jimmie Satterwhite called to Crane Friday by a sister’s illness is expected to return to Jal this week.
Mrs Wayne Cheek resigns after four weeks assisting new Flare publishers. She plans a long trip and bought another car for the journey. The Flare publishers thank her for helping launch the paper under new ownership.
Scoutmaster John Connell announced a makeup meeting for Scouts postponed from Monday night. The meeting will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in City Hall and urged all Scouts to attend and bring prospective members.
The Jal Civic Club adjourned Tuesday night early so members could attend the Hobbs basketball game in Jal. No business was conducted. Mr and Mrs Homer Johnson visited Carlsbad over the weekend and returned with a new Ford.
Mrs. T. L. Pridgeon hosted the El Paso Camp Contract Bridge Club last Thursday with three tables in play. New members Mrs. J. B. Cowan and Mrs. Z. H. Pridgeon joined as scores showed Mrs. Bill Kimball high and Mrs. J. B. Cowan second.
