Miss Ellen Brownlee visited Monday and many area residents spent midweek shopping in Jackson. Dozens, including Mrs. Jinks Mrs. Thurston Mr. Webb and Miss Mallet, were seen in town or traveling to nearby cities for visits and errands over the past week.
Miss Dollie McKibben and Mr Leemon R Akin of Macon wed Thursday afternoon in a double ring ceremony at the First Baptist Church. The bride wore champagne creperatine. attendants wore white marquisette. guests filled the room with pink and white decorations as piano solos accompanied the vows. Afterward a reception featured pink roses, ferns, and crystal, with out-of-town guests from Atlanta Zebulon Jenkinsburg Griffin and Newnan among those attending.
Miss Clara Hileen Lanier daughter of W V Lanier and Dr Cleveland Thompson of Millen announce their engagement and plan a June wedding at the Baptist church in Millen The couple comes from prominent families with Miss Lanier a Jenkins County public schools figure and Dr Thompson a Georgia University medical graduate with extensive training in Augusta New York and Millen The Millen Cor Augusta Chronicle notes their union and relocation to Millen plus additional local social notices.
Junior pupils under Miss Eileen Lanier present a Monday evening program in the School Auditorium. The Third Grade will perform Sleeping Beauty under Miss Julia Thornton with piano rhythm and voice work. The public is invited.
Fannie Boyz Pope celebrated her ninth birthday with a delightful party last Tuesday attended by thirty three friends. Jolly games and a delicious ice course with cakes followed. The hostess received many beautiful presents.
Mrs Rosa Franklin Bailey announces the engagement of daughter Minnie L to George Edwin Mallet with wedding planned in June. The rhythm recital was postponed to Monday night the 28th. Prof. Martin was absent Friday and went to Barnesville as a member of the Executive Committee. Dr. Hall led exercises Monday morning and told stories that caused much laughter. Miss Nichols and the Junior Class walked to Flovilla for botany study, returning by train. The school mourns Miss Ruby Cawthon’s mother. Teachers and pupils attended the Bethel funeral Monday.
Hotel Elder Mr J W Stokes and guests Dr G E Perkins Dr K Van Allen Jack Robertson and William Amersus arrived in Mr Am erous touring car. OD Dolvin of Atlanta and A NW Brownlee of Flovilla spent the day. Dol vin and Brownlee have leased the Casino and bowling alley for the season and invite Jackson citizens to the first night opening as guests with lunch on the pavilion at no charge.
