Memorial Day Observed in Jackson by Confederate Veterans
Memorial Day in Jackson featured a courthouse program by the Larkin D. Watson Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mayor W E Watkins gave the Memorial address, with Veterans, schoolchildren, and the Jackson Rifles participating in a parade and wreath paving at the cemetery. A banquet followed at the Commercial Building with veterans and their wives, and a sham battle closed the day.

Funeral for Confederate Veteran John Maddox Held at Worthville
The funeral for 74 year old John Clark Maddox, a Confederate veteran who collapsed after a veterans dinner, was held Sunday at Worthville Methodist church with Rev. Fincher officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, seven children, and one brother, Henry R. Maddox of Worthville.

Jess D. Roberts brother of Mrs. Joseph Carmichael and Judson Roberts and a former Jackson resident died at Macon Hospital Tuesday at 3 o clock of paralysis. Survived by his wife, six Macon children, and another brother Milton Roberts of Tucson Arizona.

Clifford Collins Interred Beside Mother in City Cemetery
The body of Clifford Collins who died in a Sanitarium in Atlanta on April 22 was brought to Jackson last Friday and buried in the City cemetery Saturday beside his mother Mrs. Robert Collins. His sisters Mesdames Brown and Harold Byston of Dublin accompanied the funeral.

Georgia Boys Corn Club Enlistment Tops Ten Thousand
Special to the Argus from Athens Georgia May 1 Practically complete returns from the Georgia State College of Agriculture show about 10 000 boys enrolled in corn clubs and 2 500 girls in girls clubs for 1913. Twenty eight counties have girls clubs and 140 have corn clubs with Carroll County leading in boys and Bibb County leading in girls.
