Dedication of New Lutheran Church in Hyde Park
Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park will dedicate its new church and parish education building at 55th and Woodlawn on Sunday May 26 with two services at 9 15 a m and 11 a m led by Dr Robert Marshall Illinois Synod president The project replaces the former buildings damaged by fire in 1963 and features a 300 seat nave and space for 240 in church school The cost exceeds 410000 with 180000 in debt and plans include a Holtkamp pipe organ and an interim electronic organ for use until then Additionally the church will utilize the Lutheran School of Theology for parish education and campus ministry at the University of Chicago with Pastor Philip W Anderson assisted by Mrs Jean Swanson and others
