Adults and youths hold church conference on youth issues

Clergymen lay members professionals and youths discussed communication and generation gaps with group dynamics and a talk on teen identity by Len Unterberger a clinical psychologist. Police Break Up Large Youth Gathering Near 54th and Ellis
About 100 youths were dispersed after gathering near 54th and Ellis on Tuesday May 14 amid suspected gang confrontation. Police observed leaders from Midway Plaisance, followed them as the group moved into Hyde Park, then regrouped near Kozminski School where a boy was struck in the face and another in the head with a bottle. Charles Dawson and James Newsome were identified among those in the Midway group.

21st Art Fair on 57th Street postponed a week
The 21st annual 57th Street Art Fair moves to June 8 and 9 due to Memorial Day weekend. It runs noon to dark between Kenwood and Kimbark with about 300 artists showing paintings sculpture graphics ceramics glass jewelry textiles. Adrian Alexander chairs a 15 member committee. Proceeds go to the artists. admission is free.
