Early Sunday morning a large fire engulfed the P. W. Williams general merchandise store in a major block of brick business houses. Firefighters and residents fought the blaze with buckets and water to save adjacent stores, but Williams and J. B. Orr’s buildings were total losses, with partial insurance on both.

Mrs. S J Kirkpatrick widow of Judge S J Kirkpatrick and sister of Bishop E E Hoss of the Southern Methodist Church was fatally burned Sunday night at Jonesboro Tennessee. Her clothing caught fire while she stood before a grate warming. She died early Monday morning according to a Johnson City Tennessee special.

Tragic Christmas Death Of Dorothy Lindsey
Dorothy Lindsey three and a half, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lindsey, died suddenly Wednesday night about nine. Previously healthy aside from a cold, she became gravely ill an hour earlier. two physicians could not save her. The bright child was deeply beloved by her parents. funeral services were held at the residence by Rev. W. W. Scott on Friday at 10:00 a.m. and she was interred in the city cemetery.
