Street lights erected in city delight citizens after dark

Early Sunday Fire Destroys Large Block in Town
At 2 o clock Sunday morning a major blaze in the P. W. Williams general merchandise store and adjacent shops in the business district threatened a full block. Residents used buckets and water streams to contain the fire, saving neighboring buildings while contents in nearby stores suffered water damage.

Sister of Bishop Hoss Burned to Death in Turman Tennessee
Johnson City special says Mrs. S. J. Kirkpatrick widow of Judge S. J. Kirkpatrick and sister of Bishop E. E. Hoss of the Southern Methodist Church was fatally burned Sunday night at Jonesboro Tennessee and died early Monday morning. Her clothing caught on fire while she stood before a grate warming.

Death of Dorothy Lindsey A Sudden Christmas Tragedy
