Methodist Circles Met on Thursday

Women's Society of Christian Service circles of the Methodist Church met Thursday afternoon. Esther Circle gathered nine members and two guests at Mrs. Leonard Klink's home, with hymn, devotions, and a lunch. Priscilla Circle met with Mrs. Sallie Tegtmeier, Miriam Circle held church cookies day with twelve members, and Josie Keith led devotions with Mrs. Duane Enabait assisting.

Fifty Nuns Visit Scout Grounds For First Nuns Day

Fifty nuns from the Winnebago Council area attended Nuns Day at the Marble Rock Scout Reservation north of Marble Rock. They toured the 360 acre site, observed archery and rifle range work, learned axemanship and knot tying, and prepared foil packets for meals over canal fires. Mrs Vada Paul of Greene leased the Marble Rock Cafe from Mr and Mrs Dickenson, who move to Blairsburg to run a cafe, taking over Monday.

The Marble Rock Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts with families and leaders held a Monday evening picnic at the Winnebago Scout Reservation north of town. The outing included swimming in the scout pool.

Marble Rock Library Summer Reading Ends With Moon Trip

The Marble Rock Library closes its summer reading program with 50 registrants for a trip to the moon and back. A list of names notes several participants who reached the moon and began their return journey. Beginning September 6 hours on Mondays change to 11 am to 1 pm and 4:30 to 3:30 pm to aid school children. Only Marble Rock shelf books will be checked out on that Monday.

Mrs Wallace Berry hosted the Wednesday Bridge Club at her home with guests Mrs Mabel Ballard, Mrs Thelma Carrott of Rockford, and Miss Genevieve Staudt of Marble Rock. After a one oclock luncheon, Genevieve Staudt won the bridge table with Mrs Walter Bohl in second place.

Carl Frank celebrated his 85th birthday at his home with relatives and neighbors joining in a supper hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Frank. Attending were Harold Hubbard and Arthur of Town Falls.
