A Social Security Administration district representative will visit Allison Court House on September 8 22 and 29 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The Waterloo district office can be reached at 234 1554, in room 702 of the Black Hawk Building at W Fourth and Commercial Streets.
The Greene Sportsman's Club sponsors a Trap Shoot on their grounds at the north edge of Greene next Sunday afternoon August 29 at 1 00 p m. This is the first such event here in years. If enthusiasm is enough, the event will run through the fall months. Shells provided at the grounds.
The fall junior golf tournament took place Monday at the Country Club with 31 entrants. Winners include John McRoberts, Greg Drakle, Ann Allison, and Ann Rattler in various grade groups, plus Dick Stuntz, Tim Heidenwirth, Mary Rottler, Melinda Drakle in junior divisions. Peewee winners were Tom Heidenwirth, David Eimers, Susan Rottler, and Marcia Behnke.

Debra Lynn Hauser three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Hauser underwent eye surgery last Friday morning at Methodist Worrell Hospital in Rochester Minnesota. She returned home Saturday afternoon.
Private First Class Jim Anthony returned to his Marine Base Cherry Point North Carolina on Monday after a twenty day leave spent with his mother Mrs Mabel Anthony He serves with the Missile Battalion at Cherry Point.
The third annual Fun Day is set for the Country Club on Thursday August 26. Golf starts at 1:00 PM and steaks will be served in the evening. Those wishing to attend should contact Sam Sneed for reservations.
Three people won five dollars each at Morey's Food Market on Saturday after their car license plate numbers matched displayed numbers. Winners were Cyrilla O'Brien of Greene Bob Graham of Nashua and Mrs Dennis Wunsch of Allison.
Greene merchants plan a full day event on Main Street August 28 beginning 8 30 am with many items at low prices. Bozo the Clown will entertain while the Commercial Club hosts cash drawings at 10 am 3 pm and 8 pm offering prizes up to 250013 for adults and 10 for children. Free swimming at the new Community Pool runs 9 am to 9 30 pm.
Jim Marshall of Greene finished sixth in the B semi main event and sixth in the feature at Nashua stock car racing Saturday night.
State Conservation Commission announces 1965 upland game bird and small mammal seasons with dates, limits, shooting hours, and open zones across Iowa. Pheasant and Hungarian partridge dates span Nov 13 1965 to Jan 2 1966 with zone restrictions. quail open statewide Nov 6 1965 to Jan 31 1966. rabbit and squirrel seasons begin Sept 11 1965 with state-wide or zone openings. raccoon, fox, and coyote rules include nonstandard limits and continuous seasons. trapping periods run Nov 20 1965 to Feb 28 1966 for mink muskrat beaver and others. water traps allowed only during mink muskrat season. permits needed for game management areas and refuges.
The Iowa Republican Party announced a state wide fundraising drive titled Buck Night to gather contributions for party operations. Local Republicans will host district meetings in September and October to organize county and district fundraising, recruit volunteers, and arrange calls to potential donors and households.

The Greene Community Schools begin the 1965 66 year on Monday August 30 with a full day session. Classes start at 9:00 a.m. Kindergarten through sixth grade students were to report yesterday or today at the elementary building, while grades seven through twelve register today and tomorrow. The system will close Monday September 6 for Labor Day.
James H. Graven was discharged and went home Thursday from Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City after receiving medical treatment.
Fish Fry plans its annual event this Friday at Greene High School auditorium. Doors open 6:30 pm with all you can eat walleyes fries coleslaw rolls ice cream coffee or milk. Prizes donated by local businesses and Sportsman's Club will be awarded at the close. Tickets at the door or from Sportsman's Club members.
The Rev Kenneth B Byerly starts as pastor of the Church of the Brethren in Greene. He came from Columbus Ohio where he led the Brethren Student Center at Ohio State University since 1961. He holds degrees from La Verne College and Bethany Theological Seminary and will pursue a Ph D at the University of Town in Towns City for three years. His wife Deanne is a Chioate University graduate and will teach at Allison High School. The Byerlis have three children Karen Kent and Douglas.
The Marie Thompson Estate Sale in Greene attracted buyers from Owatonna, Rochester, Estherville, Storm Lake, Bettendorf, Waterloo, Des Moines and towns within 60 miles. Franklin Schuknecht served as auctioneer, crying for eight continuous hours from noon to 8 30 p m.
Floyd M. Isaacson a 54 year old Northwood resident died on vacation in Geneva Illinois on August 13 from pneumonia He was born September 4 1916 in Magnus and Bessie Isaacson Ventura Town He was a retired creamery manager and lived in Greene eight years managing the local Farmer's Cooperative dairy Survivors include his wife Doris Gelner of Minneapolis three daughters and a son one grandson and a brother preceded him in death Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Northwood on August 17 The Butler District Court term for September 1965 convenes September 27 at 10:00 am with presiding Judge John F Stone of Meson City and lists township commissions and officials for several townships including Butler Ripley West Point and Shell Hock with numerous names and titles provided in the notice.

Frank H. Folkers, 65, died unexpectedly at his farm home southeast of Greene on Sunday morning. He was born December 1, 1899, in Allison, son of Hiko and Maris Folkers. He is survived by his wife Marie. three sons Floyd of Cedar Falls, Russel of Greene, and Robert at home. two daughters Dorothy F of Cedar Falls and Betty Fitt of Cedar Bar. Minnie of Marble Rock. brothers Clarence of Marble and Harry of Dumont. eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Greene with Rev. Neiderwimmer of Allison officiating. Burial will be in MN Cemetery.
Young men in Greene voted to organize a Junior Chamber of Commerce at a Community Center meeting attended by about twenty. Norman Graven was named chair and Dr R H Jaspers secretary for a temporary setup with elections planned next week. Next meeting set for Wednesday September 1.
