Area 4-H Demonstrators At State Fair This Weekend

Floyd County sends four 4-H teams to the State Fair on Friday and Saturday August 27 and 28. Demonstrations cover lifting methods, farm electric fence use, wiring a doorbell, and caring for a chair with sessions in rooms 5 3 4 and 2½. Companions from Greene Greene Route 1 Charles City and Charles City ext. staff travel to Des Moines.

Bridal shower honors Patsy Holzschuh at Aug 16 event

Miss Patsy Holzschuh was feted at a surprise bridal shower Monday evening at Mrs Merle Krueser’s home. Twenty guests attended and gifts were given to the bride to be. Mrs. Krueger and Mrs. Marvin Moser served lunch. Prizes were won by Mrs. Roger Wells, Mrs. Edward Heitland, Sally Hammel, and Beverly Schmidtke.

Rick Menkens To Observe 25th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs Rick Menkens of Wilmar will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary with an open house at their home Sunday evening August 29 starting at 6 00 oclock. Their children will host and relatives are invited. The couple married August 11 1940 at St Johns Lutheran Wilmar by Rev J P Willms. They are parents of four children John St Paul Minn Mrs Jerold Wearda Dumont Thomas and Kathryn at home plus one granddaughter Jacquelin Menken.

Harry Greens Have House Guests

Guests in the Harry Green home over the last weeks included Mr and Mrs Joan Nasy Jr and children Tom John and Julie Ann of Cleveland Ohio. Mr Nagy returned home after a week's visit while family remained to help celebrate Mrs C T Steser's 80th birthday anniversary. Other guests in the past five weeks included Mr and Mrs Gary Rottler and infant son Brad William of Ames and Miss Patricia Kenninger of Spencer.

Orval Kingerys Visited Relatives Reunion Honor

Orval Kingery and Mrs Kingery returned home Friday evening after visiting relatives and friends in central Iowa. They attended a reunion at Milo on August 15 in honor of Mrs Kingerys father E M Hunter of Boone who was 91 on August 17. Fifty two relatives attended from Greene Allison Aplington Boone Pilot Mound Newton Des Moines Indianola Milo and also Springfield Missouri. The Kingerys visited Des Moines Adel Boone and attended the State Fair in Des Moines on Friday.

Farm Bureau Women Sponsor Gun Safety Class September 25th

Butler County Farm Bureau Women sponsor a 4 hour Gun Safety Course on September 25 at 1:30 pm. Participants meet at the Farm Bureau Office and travel to Hoodier's gravel pit south of Alison for demonstrations led by Staff Sgt. James W. Tennyson. The free course is open to women and teen agers, with Viet Nam era weapons on display and firing demonstrations.

Henry Dralles Home From Europe

Mr and Mrs Her Dralle have returned from a four month European trip. They toured England the Netherlands Germany Switzerland Italy Monaco and France ending in Paris. They visited relatives including Mr Dralle's brother and sister in Ovenstadt and Mr August Dralle's family. They traveled by train to Holland and returned by boat from New York to Minneapolis aboard the Queen Elizabeth.

Luther Leaguers Host Swimming Party At Marble Rock

Luther Leaguers from Greene Nora Springs Fewell and Cordovi attended a swimming party hosted by St Peter Luther League at Marble Rock Boy Scout Reservation. Local guests included Eimers Ennen Junson Landers Liders Meyer Mesr Schafer Shafer Siemens Wolf Wunsch and others. Speakers from Amita and Donnie Schafer announced a leadership school in Cedar Falls.

Mr and Mrs Fred Knapp and Mr and Mrs Willard Marsh and Brenda returned home Thursday from a northwestern trip. They visited the Bad Lands Black Hills and Yellowstone Park en route to Saverton Idaho Spokane Washington and Lubby Eureka ForTune and Trego Montana. They stayed with Ma G E Hanson at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane and visited relatives in Montana. En route home they toured Hungry Horse Dam.
