Former Orange County Brownie to Be Dropped From the Roll
The Brownies who operated as motor vehicle inspectors in Orange county Syracuse district will be dropped from the rolls on April 1. Michael Lester is named. Since the start of the year they have only given driving tests and surrendered firearms, losing powers of arrest. Some personnel may continue as state troopers with Sergeants Marino and Turin retained. Reorganization shifts duties to the state police and may enlist inspectors who pass exams. Many attended the Troy police school and earned creditable exam marks.
