The Public Service Commission at Albany orders the elimination of the Dolson Avenue highway grade crossing over the Middletown Unionville railroad. Plans call for depressing the street and building a 45 foot wide single span through plate girder bridge with concrete abutments and 14 foot clearance, plus a 34 foot wide macadam roadway and five foot sidewalks. The railroad company must prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates for approval and construction of approaches. Traffic at the crossing was 5199 vehicles from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in August 1926 and several accidents occurred recently. city authorities, the railroad and the Bureau of Highways favor elimination.

Rebels Driven From Chinandega After Heavy Battle
