Baer endorses auto tax law as equitable shift
Pierre March 14. Judge B W Baer director of the state division of taxation says the new auto sales tax law is a step toward equalizing the tax burden by letting automobile owners share in government expenses. He notes the measure will raise about $1,000,000 yearly and could reduce the two mill state levy to one and a half mills. The tax applies only to cars not previously licensed in South Dakota and is collected by the county treasurer at license application.
