An exhaustive German government study led by Prof. Anton Siegafrits of Gurlitz links excessive oyster consumption to emotional frenzy and even suicides. The report cites observed fits of temper and foul language among oyster eaters, noting stronger effects in American varieties and among laborers with high physical exertion.
An advertisement touts DeWitt’s Witch Hazel Salve as the original pure product from BH. OG. DeWitt & Co. Chicago, sold by H. A. Dykeman, warning against counterfeits while listing uses for cats, burrs, bruises, boils, eczema, and piles. It also promotes Kodol Dyspepsia Cure for children and adults, with a Nashville testimony.
