Air Raid Warning Readied as Coast Defense Mobilizes

AP reports civilian volunteers prepared nationwide for air raid warnings. About 1200 observation posts and signal centers along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts will monitor for air attacks for several hours at most. President Roosevelt ordered 6 pm to 10 pm counter duty and demobilization after the drill. General Arnold noted the attack plan appears to scale with enemy strength, stressing readiness and potential longer campaign effects.

Rucker Broadcasts Panned At Camp

Camp Rucker announces new radio programs from station WAGE Dothan. Chaplain Buckles hosts a 15 minute meditation at 10 45 am Wednesday. Monday and Friday feature a 15 minute organ recital from Chapel No TL. Army news and information returns at 9 15 am Wednesday Friday afternoons. A fifth program offers a variety hour by local musicians and groups through service offices.

Navy Training At Great Lakes Seamanship Drill

In Navy training at Great Lakes U S Naval Training Station men from Dothan receive recruit instruction in seamanship drill and naval procedures. Bailor Promoted In Navy Duties During War

Bailor Vinson, US Navy son of Mr and Mrs A J Vinson of Newton, promoted to semman first days after enlisting in July 1947. He completed base training at San Diego and San Francisco and is now on duty somewhere in the Pacific theater of war. Navy photographers use the F 56 camera with a 30 inch lens for oblique record photographs.
