The VA announces that from Jan 1 1948 veterans seeking service connected disability treatment must have claims adjudicated before non emergency care. prima facie evidence will no longer suffice after Dec 31. The rule preserves disability rights and existing presumptions but affects post December 31 treatment eligibility and requires formal adjudication for non emergency care.
The Los Angeles Union Stock Yards report only modest changes in the week. Cattle varied with steers and fed heifers steady to weak, cows strong, and calves up 50c to $1. Hogs rose 25 to 50c with eastern rail hogs at $29.25 to $29.65 and California grainfeds $29. Sows and feeder pigs firm, stocker and feeder demand quieter. Sheep and lambs were largely nomina,l with lambs up to $24.
