Keno Bill and the Fort Benton Manhunt
In Fort Benton about 60 years ago a gambler named Reno Bill offered odds that the sheriff Billy Rowe would not catch the murderer Brown. Rowe tracked Brown from Louelle's Feb 1876 killing to a tense pursuit along the Teton and the river, finally confronting Brown at a gulch and taking him to jail after a cautious standoff. Brown was later acquitted for lack of evidence.
