Beaverhead County Montana board of county commissioners holds regular monthly session August 1 2 3 1938 with Commissioners Hartvig Jackson and Rife plus Clerk Baker. Proceedings of prior sessions read and approved. Clerk ordered to advertise sealed bids for one Diesel engine.

Fish Planted in Beaverhead Streams by Local Sportsmen
A total of 35 000 trout were planted in southern Beaverhead streams and lakes last week with Lima as the distribution point. Fingerlings from the Ennis hatchery included 20 000 natives and 15 000 rainbows, funded by local sportsmen. Additional fingerling shipments are expected within the next month or two. Also, elk season dates in the county were changed: North and west of the Big Hole river and Ruby creek open Oct 15 to Nov 15 for either sex, instead of Sept 20 to Oct 20 as previously advertised.

Beaverhead Reports Published and Postponed Legion Meeting
The Beaver head post of the American Legion postponed its last Thursday meeting at city hall due to conflicting dates. The next regular meeting is set for Sept. 8 with plans for increased membership. The Examiner publishes the county reports including Clerk Albert S. Baker’s annual state examination table and detailed revenue and expenditures for the past fiscal year.

No Trace Found of Jennings Disappears after Dillon banker vanishes
William C. Jennings, cashier of the First National Bank of Twin Bridges, disappeared after leaving for Rochester and was last seen in Dillon Sunday night. Madison County officers and Sheriff Paul H. Temple searched with clues like a cashed check and a 1934 Chrysler Montana plate 25 798. No ransom demand has appeared and kidnapping is considered unlikely.

Dry goods purchases total $38,000 for state institutions

Bozeman extension specialists will explain farm operations to the visitors as part of a national tour of noted potato farms. Car Stolen Here Is Found Friday In Butte Garage
A Ford V-8 owned by Clay Patterson of Lima was stolen from its parking place here early last week and found Friday in a Butte garage. Attendants said a youth left the car Tuesday with instructions to wash and grease it. He did not return. deputies notified. The car was undamaged.

Adair Fills In As Acting Governor At Yellowstone Visit

Potts Slayer Held on Murder Charge Released on Bond
Wise River man William J. Heaston Sr released on 10000 bond after being charged with first degree murder in the July 24 killing of Joe W. Potts. Heaston, arraigned last week, pleaded not guilty while the altercation with Heaston Jr occurred in Potts daughter’s front yard amid a property dispute.
